When it comes to inclusive playgrounds, many people think of accessibility as a design standard, or perhaps as a requirement under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). But we believe it represents something more:
Inclusion is the foundation of designing a space where every member of a community feels welcome. We know through firsthand experience that an accessible playground can change a community by bringing kids, parents and caregivers of all abilities together to enjoy the gift of play. Take your playground to the next level by designing with inclusion in mind!
Inclusive Playground Inspiration
All Inclusive Rec leverages partnerships with Unlimited Play and Little Tikes Commercial to design and build industry-leading accessible playgrounds. See a few of our recent projects!
Working with All Inclusive Rec
Our team is guided by the principles of international design expert Susan Goltsman: “Inclusive design doesn’t mean you’re designing one thing for all people. You’re designing a diversity of ways to participate so everyone has a sense of belonging.”
We have the vision and commitment to inclusion, and the experience of bringing these ideals to life at the playground. Whether you are interested in bringing a new accessible playground to your school, park or community group, or looking to improve the function of an existing play area, we are committed to finding the perfect solution for your needs.
Let’s work together to bring inclusive play to your community!
All Inclusive Rec provides local representation, so your project gets the personalized attention it deserves. For our Inclusive playground projects, we’re also proud to partner with industry leaders in inclusive design: Little Tikes Commercial, for custom design and playground equipment, and Unlimited Play, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to bringing inclusive play to communities throughout the United States.
We make an unbeatable team! Together with Unlimited Play and Little Tikes Commercial, our team can turn your goals and objectives into a fully Inclusive playground that incorporates every element of inclusive design — from unitary surfacing and ramps to parallel play activities, sensory activation, and of course, FUN!
Planning & Design
Planning an Inclusive playground involves a deeper understanding of how a piece of equipment is designed and who can interact with it. Our team follows Susan Goltsman’s principles of “Designing with the I-N-Gs in mind,” from running, jumping, and climbing, to interacting, imagining, and belonging. Once we have identified the I-N-Gs, we look for opportunities to engage with each activity to make sure individuals with different abilities are not being left out.
Purchasing & Financing
Through our partners at Unlimited Play, we have vast experience in coordinating playground fundraising and mobilizing resources to secure funding from both public and private entities, including grants. For public projects with bid requirements, we also offer cooperative purchasing through pre-negotiated contracts.
Whether you are planning a community build with a team of volunteers or your local fire department, or seeking a professional installation company, we will be on-site to make sure everything is running smoothly. Our installations are always completed by CPSI-certified, OSHA-trained and insured vendors.
When you work with Little Tikes Commercial, you know you are working with the biggest and best name in playground equipment. And in addition to our installations, all products from All Inclusive Rec are offered with an industry-leading warranty.
Safety & Accessibility
Safety cannot be compromised. For that reason, every manufacturer we represent is CPSC compliant. Our surfacing and playground equipment manufacturers follow ASTM standards developed by ASTM International. And our designers work diligently to ensure your inclusive playground meets or surpasses all local and national safety standards.
During the planning process, we also look through a lens of inclusion to ensure that your outdoor space will provide a fun experience for people of all abilities. Our partner Unlimited Play’s design standards exceed the minimum requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility guidelines and remove barriers that emphasize limitations. These playgrounds promote dignity, understanding and respect for all people, and not just children with disabilities or critical illnesses. Inclusive playgrounds allow parents and caregivers with disabilities, including our nation’s veterans, the opportunity to play alongside their loved ones.
